- To identify structural inefficiencies, inflated costs, or broken value chains in the status quo.
- To pinpoint exactly which part of the business logic is failing the user, serving as a launchpad for the "How Might We" question.
The Tool
Use the standard 9-block canvas, but instead of mapping a new idea, map the Competitor or the Current Internal Process.
- Front Stage: How is the value currently delivered (and where does it fall short)?
- Back Stage: What archaic resources or manual activities are currently powering the system?
- Bottom Line: Where is money being wasted or left on the table?
